Hi Eric,

There was a patch introduced recently to improve the detection of the Python executable. I have copied the author to see if he can spot the issue.

[Edited Message Follows]
Hi,
I'm running Zephyr on a Ubuntu 18.04 VM, and just followed the getting started instructions.

On my first build of "hello world", I'm getting this "Failed to test python version" error.
dev1@dev1-VirtualBox:~/ZephyrSDK/gitproj/zephyr/samples/hello_world$ cmake -GNinja -DBOARD=arduino_101
CMake Error at /home/dev1/ZephyrSDK/gitproj/zephyr/cmake/backports/FindPythonInterp.cmake:46 (message):

CMakeLists.txt:3 (include)

I'm using the Zephyr SDK and did install the Python dependencies. Any ideas on what's causing this?

I've also made sure that ~/.local/bin is at the front of PATH environment variable.
dev1@dev1-VirtualBox:~/ZephyrSDK/gitproj/zephyr/samples/hello_world/build$ echo $PATH/home/dev1/.local/bin:/home/dev1/ZephyrSDK/gitproj/zephyr/scripts:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/snap/bin
